Where Mountains Meet the Sea
Yoga in Versilia
The glamorous Tuscan Riviera stretching from Viareggio to Forte dei Marmi, backed by the dramatic Apuan Alps.
Since the 1950s, Versilia has been the queen of the Italian summer — a 30-kilometre stretch of golden sandy beaches backed by the dramatic white peaks of the Apuan Alps. This unique landscape offers beach yoga with mountain views.
The coastline encompasses several distinct resort towns. Viareggio, the largest, combines elegant Art Nouveau architecture with Italy's most spectacular Carnival celebration. Forte dei Marmi attracts the international jet set to its exclusive beach clubs. Lido di Camaiore offers a more relaxed family atmosphere.
Versilia earned Blue Flag certification for its clean waters and well-maintained beaches. Whether you prefer the lively beach clubs (bagni) or quieter stretches of free beach, there's a spot for everyone — and for yoga at sunrise or sunset.
After your practice, the vibrant nightlife, excellent seafood restaurants, and designer boutiques await. Or head inland to the artistic town of Pietrasanta, where Michelangelo once sourced his marble.
Food & Wine
Versilia's cuisine celebrates the sea — fresh catches prepared simply, from fritto misto to grilled orata. The Candia dei Colli Apuani DOC produces crisp white wines perfect for seaside dining.
